rev. may

It’s been brought to my attention that my blog posts are short. I won’t name any names… *cough*Jody May*cough*

So let’s see if I can get back into the swing of things.

I played my drums for a while last night. I’ve been playing a lot more regularly since moving into my house. After 45 minutes I had a few blisters. That junk hurts.

My main focus has been keeping my energy up through the entire practice time. I noticed that after about 15 minutes I really started feeling tired and my attack and accuracy was going down the shaft of the out house in Dead Snow. I decided to push through and keep playing.

My strategy was to pull back from the more technical parts and go with simple beats that wouldn’t take a lot to play. But at the same time I stuck with things that would keep my body working and not cool down.

It worked great! After I pushed through the slump at the 15 minute mark, the next half hour was great!

Any other drum geeks out there have ideas or things they like to do to keep momentum while playing?

oh yes!

my itchy chest calls me stupid.

1. Tomorrow I am getting my chest piece started. I can’t wait.

2. I’ve got a little band practice lined up for this evening. Working on more 90s tunes.

3. Just made a 94 on my first final exam through KSU!

4. Tiffany is awesome.

5. Business is picking up and I’m stoked.

busy day.

Happy Father’s Day to everyone.

Today is a little busy. Church, guns, studio and Trader Joe’s. I love it. Let’s keep me busy.

let’s do it.

1. My classes are the jam. I’m really having more fun than I thought I would with it.

2. I’d love to get my hands on 2 or 3 pairs of some Barker Black shoes.

3. Ready to get some things done around my house this weekend.

4. My chest tattoo is a week away! I really can’t wait to see how Phil at Memorial Tattoo rocks it!

5. What are everyone else’s weekend plans?

1990 something.

I’m getting pretty excited. Tonight is the first practice for a 90s cover band I just was asked to play in. I can’t wait to see how this goes. After we get about 25 to 30 songs, we will be playing around Kennesaw and Marietta.

Tonight we’re working on some stuff from Tonic, The Foo Fighters and Weezer.

I can’t wait! I’m finally going to give my SJC kit a bit of a workout.

i’m ready.

1. It’s Friday. I’m extremely happy about that.

2. My KSU classes are going great. I can’t wait to finish up this program.

3. Doing web design is a blast.

4. I’ve got lots of work around my house that I can’t wait to get started on.

5. I will really try to not slack so much on the blogging.

changing it up.

I’m working on playing with some wordpress themes and code. Please excuse the crap layouts, possible broken links and odd layout while I figure some stuff out.

birthday recap!

I have really had a great week! I got to do a lot of really cool things on and around my birthday.

Sunday I went shooting with Silas and Jody. Good dudes. Rad guns.

Tuesday, on my birthday, I slept in, got to hang out with my lovely wife and spent some much needed time behind my drum kit.

Wednesday we went to the Butch Walker show. Loads of fun. That dude is more than a musician. He’s a great entertainer. What a gift.

Good times!!

getting it going.

I’m starting some online classes at KSU today. I’m pretty stoked on it. We’ll see what happens!
